What is a Maximeter?
It is a measurement instrument that registers the maximum demanded capacity for an energy supply during fifteen minute periods, to determine whether or not the contracted
capacity has been exceeded.
The main advantage of this device is that supply is not interrupted if the contracted capacity is exceeded. This is fundamental for non-interruptible supplies.
The
maximeter is installed in electrical supplies with contracted power above 15kW, those with a low voltage 3.0A
access rate, and those with high voltage supplies. In some cases, supplies with contracted power under 15kW have this instrument instead of having a
Power Control Switch, as occurs in the vast majority of household supplies.
