What is a Reseller Company?

A Reseller Company purchases the energy from the Generating Company, pays the cost of its transport to the Distribution Company and sells the electricity to the final consumer.

As such, it is the Reseller Company from which you contract electricity, and the Reseller Company bills you and provides service for all changes, modifications and questions regarding your contract.

The consumer has the right to freely choose the Reseller Company that supplies their electricity. Changing to a different Marketer does not involve any change to your installation or interruption to supply.

In order to help you with your choice, we provide you with lists corresponding to Open Market Reseller Companies and Reference Reseller Companies.

Open Market Reseller Companies

You can sign up for electricity with a Reseller Company at a price freely agreed upon between the two parties. In the following, we give you a list with the Reseller Companies registered with the National Energy Commission (CNE).

Reference Reseller Companies

Last Resort Reseller Companies will be known as Reference Reseller Companies to offer the Voluntary Price for Small Consumers (VPSC).

The Reference Reseller Company also offers:

The Rate Subsidy.
The rate for customers with contracted capacity above 10kW, without right to VPSC (deterrent rate).
The VPSC with fixed annual price.

In the case of Endesa, the Reference Reseller Company is Endesa Energy XXI.

What is the Distributing Company?

It is the owner of the electricity network that physically delivers the electricity to your home. It is also responsible for guaranteeing quality of service, reading the metres, maintaining the installations, and attending to and repairing faults.

What is a Reseller Company?

What is a Maximeter?

It is a measurement instrument that registers the maximum demanded capacity for an energy supply during fifteen minute periods, to determine whether or not the contracted capacity has been exceeded.

The main advantage of this device is that supply is not interrupted if the contracted capacity is exceeded. This is fundamental for non-interruptible supplies.

The maximeter is installed in electrical supplies with capacities greater than 15 kW, those with a low voltage 3.0A access rate, and those with high voltage supplies.

In some cases, supplies with capacities of less than 15 kW have this instrument instead of having a Power Control Switch, as occurs in the vast majority of household supplies.

What does the acronym ICP mean?

PCS means The Power Control Switch and is a device that controls the maximum power contracted with the electric company. The installer installs it based upon the capacity contracted, and it is sealed. Avoid damage to the installation in the case of overload.
